![]() That kind of digital gatekeeping makes me very uncertain, and doubtful of the remaining legacy of computing in the future. I'm not a big fan of Steam either, but at least I don't need to send them an e-mail every time I want to reinstall something. I hate SaaS TBH, I got burned by it in the 2000's with Softwrap and Postal 2. Most of those disks are made on my Linux laptop, but sometimes I burn them on the machines themselves. ![]() The only thing I use CD-R's for anymore is loading OSes on my old machines - mostly my 386/486 boxes using a DDO that allows for CD-ROM boot. ![]() So I always have something with a DVD-RW drive on it somewhere, even if it's the 486. I don't really care anymore, I just take everyone else's' "Old Junk" and put Linux on it these days, and then keep using it well past it's sell-by date.
